Cantaloupe Carrot

Today, I welcome the feel of summer with this incredibly sunny smoothie!

Recipe for today’s includes:

.25 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 cup of organic carrot juice (cheap at Trader Joe’s)
.5 of a cantaloupe, chopped
1 scoop of protein powder for energy (I used Shaklee vanilla powder)
5 ice cubes

Benefits:

  • Almond Milk: naturally rich in several vitamins and minerals, especially vitamin E.
  • Carrots: rich in vitamin A, it is good for improving eyesight and preventing conditions like night blindness from developing as we age.
  • Cantaloupe: high water and electrolyte content helps ward off dehydration and combat the heat.
  • Protein Powder: for vegans/vegetarians, or if you’re simply active, will benefit from an added scoop of protein to help build lean muscle mass.

Pear Orange Grape

Today’s smoothie ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 cups of kale
  • 1 pear, sliced
  • 1 banana
  • 1 orange
  • 1 cup grapes
  • 5 ice cubes

Benefits:

Pears: have anti-oxidant and anti-carcinogen glutathione which help prevent high blood pressure and stroke.

Oranges: full of beta-carotene is a powerful antioxidant protecting the cells from being damage which also protects the skin from free radicals and prevents the signs of aging.

Grapes: a wonderful source of micro-nutrients like copper, iron, and manganese, all of which are important in the formation and strength of the bones.

Banana: easily digested and easy on the stomach.

Kale: chock-full of essential vitamins A, C and K as well as minerals like copper, potassium, iron, manganese and phosphorus.

Almond Honeydew Lime

  • 3/4 cup almond milk
  • 3 cups of honeydew melon
  • 2 teaspoons maqui berry powder
  • 1 tablespoon flaxseed
  • 1 tablespoon juice of a lime
  • 3 ice cubes

Benefits:

  • Almond Milk: lower in calories, almond milk is jam packed with vitamin E, magnesium manganese and monounsaturated fats.
  • Honeydew Melon: one cup of honeydew provides 34% of your recommended intake of vitamin C, so with this smoothie, you’re pretty much set.
